Individuals, and their families, with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), encounter extreme hardships in confronting their own vulnerability and feelings of humiliation because of the debilitating symptoms of chronic pain and failing bodies.

“Fila has written a very special book about her journey with CRPS. It is very personal and even includes some words from her daughter, explaining how it affected her. Anyone who has CRPS or friends and family members of someone who has CRPS could benefit from reading this book.”
- Linda Lang, Author (with author - Peter Moskowitz, MD), Living with RSDS Your Guide to Coping with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (May 2003).

In Hear My Voice, Living with CRPS A Chronic Pain Journey, Fila Paragas shares with us her intimate story of her illness, which took a long time to diagnose, and her struggle for the recognition of the severity of her condition by her employer at the World Health Organization, her generalist doctor and medical community, and those experts in the field of pain management. She was also diagnosed with other conditions, including Fibromyalgia.

Her vivid description of the pain she suffers and endures is raw and filled with details. This chronicle of an illness and medical combat comes to us at a time in the twentieth-first century when developed nations have been trying to address the needs of the handicapped and severely impaired. This book is essential reading for human resource personnel, medical providers, and those suffering the challenge of pain management at home and in the workplace.

Hear My Voice Living with CRPS A Chronic Pain Journey edition by Fila Paragas Kathleen Szawiola Sara Velez Mallea Health Fitness Dieting eBooks

This heartfelt memoir chronicles the incredible challenges the author faces with the disabling effects of CRPS. Her story is documented by her own experiences and photos. Sharing her journey accomplishes at least two major goals - raising awareness of an illness not familiar to many; and offering hope and encouragement to suffering people everywhere to carry on, and as she writes toward the end of the book to "keep dreaming of all the things you want to do." Although a painful story, it's told from the vantage point of a cheerful outlook and persevering attitude. Thank you and God bless.

Hear My Voice Living with CRPS A Chronic Pain Journey edition by Fila Paragas Kathleen Szawiola Sara Velez Mallea Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

A journey of a family never giving up hope despite the constant pain the author is going through, while searching for a cure is an amazing read. Once I started reading the book, I could not put it down.
An inspiring, beautifully written, informative and powerful story of the author’s struggle to cope with the shocking hammer blow that the diagnosis of CRPS brought to her and her family’s life. I was very moved by the author’s strength and dedication in writing such story which will have a significant impact on other CPRS sufferers and their loved ones, worldwide. Congratulations to the author for the most inspiring story I have ever read.
Mind began as a kink in my neck and people were having a muscular flu at the time and my joints in shoulders down to finger tips. This was the mid of January. Also, I have Parkinson's and saw neurologist that month, his said since my immune system was low, another story was just taking me longer to get over flu. I could not take temps lower than 40 degrees, hard when you were raised way up in the north and this is colorado. Got worse through February, heating pads, hot bath, ice packs made worese. Neck was killing me, each day was something new, swore my collarbone each broke. Neck felt size of Andre the giant, shoulders wouldn't move, upper arms ached, woke up to tennis elbow, like that is painful, then lower arms, then to wrists, oh so very painful, then into every little bone and knuckle of hand. Finally, in March had to go to ER. See, I hadn't gone as I am a Energy Holistic healer, teach meditation, chakras, and Shaman, all with certifications....and now the Healer became a Wounded Healer. Took from March 9, to June 6 to be diagnosed with t h CRPS, we forgot how many trips to ERs, totally. messed up appointments, til May to get MRI, do have degenerative osteoarthritis it no treatment plan yet. Thank the a Great Spirit, Mother Earth, Father Sky, my spirituality, my fight, my never give up, my ability to.do research farther than Web MD and Mayo...you had to go pages in to Google to find out about CRPS and be your own healer, we are all both with ability to heal, just have try and try me thing, mix western,, eastern, holistic medicine together.

CRPS......is was one step above painful disease, you feel on fire,,ligaments feel like old rubbers bands ready to just snap, the headaches, the freaky feeling when you look down and the world is moving, things going dark as you walk and you have to grapple hold of something, young are bedridden with pain, sleep is only cuz you pass out from exhaustion and pain. Opiates...no way man.....they will get you hooked., Antidepressants only short term, no diazepam, forget mental health, they will sensation a life long addiction to drugs. Do pain management, mediation, guided for pain, for depression, anxiety, binaural mp3 music, alpha, beta, theta sounds waves, your faith, your spirituality and finally finding 1 doctor who gets it and spends more than 15 minutes with you and diet....go on am an....check out the protein, veg, veg/fruit powder they have that are all natural , gluten free, no matter how bad you feel y o u can put coconut or almond milk , a little Greek probiotic yogurt and powder in a blender.....I lived on that for months. Learn Chi Going exercise......is like dancing or flowing with water. Take charge of your life, doctors won't..

You book is interesting, but you say you were diagnosed with CRPS, by who, where did they v a fish off to.....you give just s t your ailments and don't say what e lose where else it can travel in Bobdy.....to point you cannot hold a pen, sign your name or the degree your vision can go, how sound effects your, looking at TV can cause you pain. Y o ur foot, your shoes, your crutches, you got it on stress, financial drain.

55% is CRPS patients commit suicide, there is no one who is going to find a financial plan to began to cover the cost of this disease.
Felt like she wrote my own battle with CRPS!
I would recommend this book to anyone who has experienced, or is interested in knowing more about, CRPS and its effect on sufferers and their family. Fila takes readers on a journey of pain, frustration, courage, perseverance and tenacity. The book is a good reminder of how life can suddenly turn upside down and how we must never lose hope and give up the fight. JPetch
Very inspiring true story but heartbreaking as how I see the author suffers & struggle with this illness. I definitely will share this book to my loved ones (family & friends) & hoping that many people (even the Professionals in Medical Field) will be educated & aware on what CRPS illness all about. I admire the author as she manage to cope up & never gave up that she will be healed one day. Thank you again for this inspiration!!!
This true story made me felt so sad. The author got injured while was on work mission. Later the employer fired her because of her frail health caused by the injury while on job duty. She lost her income and medical insurance at the time when she needed the benefits the most. I would not feel that mournful if her employer is a corporation, not World Health Organization in Geneva. WHO should thoroughly review its own constitution, "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.", or this is merely a statement that does not mean anything? I would think that WHO would recognize CRPS as one of its own employee has suffered with this disease, but sadly WHO denied it. I admired the author's courage and the supports she received from her loving family. I am hoping CRPS will be known to more people and the cure will be discovered soon.
